What we collect
If you start an application, we ask for an email address so we can send you a sign-in link and identify your application. Everything you enter into the application itself — your background, your proposal, your statements, and any files you upload — is saved automatically as you go, so you can leave and come back before the deadline. The application also lets you select path markers about your own background — such as being a first-generation student or a veteran — entirely at your own choice; nothing is inferred. If you invite people to write on your behalf, we collect their name and email address to send them an invitation, and we receive what they submit for your file. If you write to us directly through the contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message you give us. We do not run a separate eligibility quiz, and nothing is collected before you actually begin an application or write to us.

Why we collect it
An email address lets us send you a sign-in link, keep your application tied to you, and reach you about it. What you enter into the application is used to evaluate your candidacy. A recommender's name and email let us invite them and route their letter to your file; what they submit is used the same way. A contact-form message is used to answer it. We run no analytics or tracking on this site beyond what is needed to operate it. The service providers who host this site and its data can access what we store as needed to provide that hosting; we do not otherwise share it, and we do not sell it.
Intended for the cycle, not indefinitely.
How long we keep it
The intention is to retain an application and its recommenders' information for the cycle it relates to and the cycle following it, so we can reach you about that cycle, and to retain contact-form messages for as long as needed to answer them and keep a record of having done so. Counsel has not yet fixed the exact retention periods, and this page will state them once they are set rather than assume them now.
What you will be able to ask for.
Your rights
We already collect the information described above. Once a request channel exists, you will be able to ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Deletion requests will be honoured except where we are required to retain something. Asking us to delete your contact information will not affect an application already under review.

A contact address for privacy requests will be published here when this page is cleared. Until then, there is no dedicated channel for privacy requests, because this page — and the rights it describes — has not yet cleared legal review.
