Applications Open for the $60,000 Dan Herbatschek Fellowship at Ramsey Theory Group

The 12-month fellowship joins substantial financial support with mathematics, code, technology, business, mentorship and practical work.

Ten selected fellows will each receive a $60,000 allocation and participate in a 12-month program connecting foundational study, advanced mathematics, code, modeling, technology, practical applications and business. Applications will remain open through January 15, 2027, and the fellowship will begin on [TBD] first cohort start date.

The program seeks candidates whose intellectual ability and seriousness may not be fully represented by a conventional academic or professional trajectory. Applicants may include returning students, community-college and transfer students, immigrants, first-generation students, students balancing education with work or family responsibility, and self-taught programmers seeking stronger mathematical foundations.

Selection will consider intellectual ability, discipline, evidence of initiative, the candidate's access gap, fit with the program and capacity to contribute. Difficulty alone is not a qualification, and applicants are not expected to fit a single educational profile.

Each application will include an account of the candidate's educational path and intellectual interests, evidence of work, a proposed use of funds and a description of what the candidate hopes to study and build. Finalists may be invited to a structured interview and working discussion.

"Financial support buys time and the right to concentrate, but money alone cannot create direction, intellectual community or practical judgment. The fellowship is designed to provide those forms of support together, while maintaining serious expectations of every fellow."

said Dan Herbatschek, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ramsey Theory Group.
